The Gods of Eblon
The gods of the Forgotten Realms grew tired of all their creations warring with one another. They joined and made a new world to find peace that was never found in any previous world. To do this, treaties were made. Each deity was given portions of the lands to rule over. Each was able to make their creations, with the responsibility to teach them of the mistakes of former worlds. A committee of a few of the major deities has gathered their followers to make a police force. They are charged with keeping balance and peace among the inhabitants of Eblon. The deities still take a large part in the world. Many live on different planes but all the gods have appeared on the material plane to choice followers from time to time. There are also lesser deities who compete to gain more power and responsibilities. The gods have placed dungeons and artifacts in different places as testing grounds for their followers and adventurers. A few have been discovered, but there are many locations which have yet to be found.
The Inhabitants of Eblon
Most inhabitants of Eblon have close relationships with the deities. While some only follow one god or goddess, most pay homage to any of the deities who affect their lives. There is no standard alignment for the humanoids on Eblon. The different races of Eblon are similar in many ways to their counterparts in other worlds with several noticeable differences. These differences warrant a post of their own, as there are some fun surprises that I am not ready to spoil yet. Since the world is young there are not many high-level adventurers. In fact, getting to or beyond level 12 means you are among the strongest in the land.
The Land Mass
Eblon is the name of the world, as well as the singular land mass that exists. However, there are three distinct kingdoms/countries. Each is a general representation of good, neutral, or evil. Some locations are still home to several races, but in general, the races of Eblon are segregated to their own corner of the world. There are still some places which have yet to be fully discovered. Looking at a map of Eblon will show a section called The Waste. There are a few known dragons in the area, but nothing is known about the land behind the mountains. The edges around the ocean are surrounded by large cliffs, rocky shores, and monsters like dragon turtles. Heavy storms are also seen over the land. For these reasons, exploration of the area was abandoned.
Magic and Technology
While there is much magic in the world, there are few wizards who take the time to study and amass a lot of power. Production of magic items has stopped, many are hidden or lost. Some collectors do possess minor magic items for sale. Magic is important to the inhabitants of Eblon, but some basic technologies have been discovered. Things like glass for windows, printing presses, and basic plumbing are found in many locations. They add a lot of comfort to members of higher socioeconomic status and citizens of larger cities.
If you have any questions let me know! You can see the world of Eblon in action on Friday nights at 9 p.m. MDT on Twitch or on YouTube.
